Morgan Stanley Completes 24/7 Challenge to Support Round-the-Clock Care for Families at Great Ormond Street Hospital

Jul 23, 2015

London —

Morgan Stanley today completed a 24/7 summer analyst Challenge to raise vital funds to support Great Ormond Street Hospital’s seriously ill young patients. Money raised will help to fund new accommodation at the hospital so that parents can stay with their child and support them 24/7.

From visiting every destination on the London Monopoly board to cycling 247km, teams of the company’s Summer Analysts completed fundraising challenges against the clock to raise as much money as possible in just seven hours.

The 24/7 Challenge was part of Morgan Stanley’s new two year partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, which aims to raise £1.5 million to help fund much needed accommodation for parents of children in intensive care and other wards at the hospital.

The lights don’t go out in Great Ormond Street Hospital’s intensive care unit, and these wards provide round-the-clock care for some of the most seriously ill young children from across the UK, who have severe, complex and life-threatening conditions. The hospital urgently needs new accommodation for parents so that they can be there to support their children 24/7, when it matters most.

The charity was chosen as Morgan Stanley’s new partner following an employee vote in February, and since then teams across the company have been working hard to raise funds, with fifteen teams taking to the water for a Dragon Boat Race at London’s Docklands last month. The company has a long history of supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital, having helped to fund the state-of-the-art facilities in the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, which opened in 2012.

Amit Aggarwal, Director of Corporate Partnerships at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said: “We are delighted to be starting the next chapter of our relationship with Morgan Stanley and want to extend a huge thank you to all the Morgan Stanley staff that have taken part in the 24/7 challenge.

“A family’s whole life can be changed in one moment with a diagnosis or referral of their child to Great Ormond Street Hospital. When a child is seriously ill in intensive care, having their parents by their side is critical and the money raised through our partnership will make a lasting difference for the hospital’s young patients and their families.”

Sue Watts, Chair of the Morgan Stanley International Foundation said: “I am very proud of the enthusiasm and originality shown by our summer analysts in taking up the 24/7 challenge and congratulate them on their achievements. Great Ormond Street Hospital offers world class care and Morgan Stanley is proud and honoured to be able to help this great institution by funding new accommodation for families of the young patients in their care.”

Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity needs to raise vital funds each year to help rebuild and refurbish Great Ormond Street Hospital, provide vital up-to-date equipment and crucial support services for families and fund research into better treatments.
