Morgan Stanley Wealth Management today announced the release of its latest issue of Perspectives in Philanthropy, Vol. 13, “The Advancement of Women and Girls,” a journal that features individuals and nonprofit organizations dedicated to elevating and empowering women and girls around the world.
The organizations and individuals highlighted in this issue are engaging in transformational work designed to help women and girls reach their full potential. Innovators featured in this edition include Aga Khan University, an international institution dedicated to serving women and the developing world through the development of human capacities and dissemination of knowledge; the International Justice Mission, a global organization committed to rescuing and protecting victims of abuse and slavery, prosecuting criminals, and strengthening judicial systems; MAKERS, a digital platform showcasing the stories of trailblazing women including those at Morgan Stanley through their MAKERS@ corporate initiative; and Deb Pulver, founder of the nonprofit Strands of Strength which provides high quality wigs for women undergoing cancer treatment.
According to Melanie Schnoll Begun, Managing Director and Head of Philanthropy Management at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, “Women and girls − who are vital members of our families, communities, and workplaces − have the power to ignite significant change in this world when afforded the opportunity to reach their full potential. For example, the Lower Eastside Girls Club (LESGC) of Manhattan was created by a group of women who discerned a need for a safe place for girls to play and learn after school, so they took decisive action to make that happen. Now, the LESGC has over 1,000 active members and provides an impressive array of services including a planetarium show, college and career prep, environmental education, digital and audio arts programming, and mentoring.”
“We are thrilled to have Sesame Workshop’s WASH Up! initiative and our newest Muppet, Raya, highlighted in this issue of Morgan Stanley’s Perspectives in Philanthropy,” said Sherrie Westin, EVP Global Impact and Philanthropy, Sesame Workshop. “Our mission is to help children everywhere grow smarter, stronger and kinder. In addition to being a strong role model for young girls, Raya teaches important lessons around sanitation and hygiene to children who need it most.”
“Morgan Stanley is committed to helping individuals and nonprofits expand their charitable reach,” said Steven Rosandich, Vice President at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. “One of the most exciting ways we are doing this is by highlighting their remarkable stories and achievements in Perspectives in Philanthropy.”
