Kids Company Partners with Morgan Stanley

Feb 14, 2011

London —

Global financial services firm Morgan Stanley today announced a new charity partnership with Kids Company, the charity founded by Camila Batmanghelidjh that provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people.

Staff at Morgan Stanley's London offices voted for their new charity partner last week and selected Kids Company to be the main beneficiary of their employee fundraising over the next two years. They are aiming to raise £800,000, including a match from the Morgan Stanley International Foundation.

This would be the largest corporate donation that Kids Company has received and will have a transformative impact, enabling the charity to expand the services it provides.

Kids Company chief executive Camila Batmanghelidjh said, "We are over the moon that Morgan Stanley employees have chosen Kids Company as their new charity partner. Through this partnership we will raise funds to purchase the Morgan Stanley Heart Yard building in south London, where thousands of children will have help managing the devastating effects of trauma and abuse so that they go on to lead positive and fulfilling lives."

Morgan Stanley Co-President of Institutional Securities Colm Kelleher said, "Morgan Stanley has a long tradition of giving back to the communities in which our employees live and work. We look forward to making a lasting contribution to Kids Company through the funding of the Morgan Stanley Heart Yard building in South London - a contribution that will endure long after our two-year partnership has ended."

Kids Company currently reaches 14,000 children and young people, including the most deprived and at risk whose parents are unable to care for them to due their own practical and emotional challenges. The charity provides a safe, caring, family environment tailored to the needs of each individual. It operates through four street level centres and works in forty London schools.
