Morgan Stanley today celebrated the opening of the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The Firm and its employees raised £11.5 million for the new building, which was officially opened at a ceremony today by Lord Coe.
“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to create a lasting legacy that will provide children locally, nationally and internationally with world-class medical care,” commented Colm Kelleher, Co-President of Institutional Securities and Head of EMEA and Asia Pacific for Morgan Stanley. “The Morgan Stanley Clinical Building is an important element of the hospital’s major redevelopment plan to ensure patients receive the highest quality care in 21st century facilities and which will enable the hospital to treat up to 20 percent more children and advance pioneering translational research programmes. The building gives the children, families and staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital what they deserve most – world class facilities to match its already world class care.”
During Morgan Stanley’s three-year partnership with GOSH, the Firm and its employees not only exceeded the original £10 million target for the new building, but also raised an additional £1.5 million which has paid for extra accommodation in the cardiac ward and the purchase of an Angio Bi-Plane machine, which provides three-dimensional imagery during surgery and will be used in operations on over 2,000 children each year.
The new seven-story Morgan Stanley Clinical Building houses state-of-the-art inpatient and day-care facilities, diagnostic facilities and new operating theatres. The new Heart and Lung, Neurosciences and Kidney centres have more space and provide a more welcoming environment for patients and their families.
