Morgan Stanley Announces Partnership with Beijing Children's Hospital

BEIJING, January 13, 2009 - Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) today announced a charitable donation and partnership with Beijing Children's Hospital (BCH), China's leading pediatrics center. The donation, which will support the hospital's new hematology and oncology center, expands Morgan Stanley's global commitment to children's health and builds on its established collaboration with leading children's hospitals in New York and London.

Morgan Stanley's grant will provide assistance to help expand the high quality medical services of Beijing Children's Hospital and enhance the standards of specialist pediatric care and treatments for children with cancer or leukemia in China. The donation will include state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy equipment for the new center's Radiotherapy Center, as well as specialist training for BCH medical staff.

BCH's new hematology and oncology center, which will have a floor area of 57,000 sqm and 360 beds, is under construction with an estimated completion date in 2011. The new center will house a dedicated Chemotherapy Center, Radiotherapy Center, Operation Center and 10 specialized wards that will boost hematology and oncology treatment capacity to a total of 400,000 children each year. The new unit will also support advanced medical procedures and greatly enhance the level of care and comfort for the young patients and their families during treatment.

Globally, Morgan Stanley has funded and helped build the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian in New York City, and is partnering with Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, the UK's leading pediatric hospital, for the development of a new clinical building. Morgan Stanley is also the first major corporate supporter of Grow Clinics in the US, which are specialty operations that target families with children suffering from medical complications associated with malnourishment, primarily due to poverty.
