In an exclusive interview on the Women's Financial Advisor Forum, journalist and editor Marion Asnes shares her unique perspective on why a career as a financial advisor can be ideal for women.
"People who are good listeners and who are empathetic have an advantage. And most women have been raised to prize those behaviors. So in that sense women have an advantage," observed Ms. Asnes, editor in chief of Financial Planning, a leading trade magazine for financial professionals.
Given the industry's move toward comprehensive wealth management, an economic climate that puts a premium on advice, and increased regulatory scrutiny of financial advisor relationships, women interested in the career can gain an advantage, she said. "Their skills are in demand. The listening and client relationship skills that many of them bring to the table are things that every advisor needs to have now."
