Cyril Moulle-Berteaux Rejoins Morgan Stanley Investment Management as Head of Global Asset Allocation

Jun 24, 2011

New York —

Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) announced today that Cyril Moulle-Berteaux will return to Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) as a Managing Director and Head of the Global Asset Allocation team.  Mr. Moulle-Berteaux will assume day-to-day management responsibilities for all investment vehicles operating under the Global Asset Allocation Strategy within MSIM’s Long-Only business.  He is replacing Henry McVey as Head of the Global Asset Allocation team.

Mr. Moulle-Berteaux worked for MSIM from 1995 to 2003 in various roles, including Head of the Asset Allocation team, Head of Asset Allocation Research and research analyst.  Prior to rejoining MSIM, Mr. Moulle-Berteaux worked as a founding partner in the multi-strategy hedge fund firm Traxis Partners LLC.

“We are thrilled to have Cyril and his level of institutional investment talent back at MSIM,” said Greg Fleming, President of Morgan Stanley Investment Management and President of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.  “Cyril’s return is consistent with our commitment to investment excellence and to growing as an investor-led organization.”

Asset Allocation has long been an integral part of MSIM’s approach to investment management.  The Global Asset Allocation team focuses on strategic and tactical asset allocation and seeks to identify and exploit inefficiencies between asset classes, countries, sectors and themes.  The team’s research-intensive investment process is driven by a combination of fundamental macro-economic and financial analysis as well as quantitative analysis performed across global asset classes that include equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities.

Based in New York, Mr. Moulle-Berteaux will report to Ruchir Sharma, Head of Emerging Markets Equity.  Mr. Sharma will continue to primarily oversee the Emerging Markets Equity team and will lead the Global Macro effort that facilitates collaboration between several macro-oriented investment teams within Long-Only.

The return of Mr. Moulle-Berteaux marks the second significant rehire for MSIM’s Long-Only business.  In February 2011, Ashutosh Sinha rejoined MSIM as a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager in the Global Emerging Markets Equity team.  Based in Singapore, Mr. Sinha further deepens MSIM’s investment expertise in emerging markets.  Prior to returning to MSIM, Mr. Sinha was a founding partner of the hedge fund firm Amoeba Capital Partners Ltd.
